INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
Whenever we have inclement weather that poses a danger to program participants, members, as well as staff to be on the road the St. Joseph Family YMCA reserves the right to delay and/or cancel scheduled programs, delay and/or close the facility based on current and predicted weather and road conditions. The YMCA will take into account the actions of other organizations such as schools, churches, etc. in the decision making process.
The YMCA must rely on our ability to properly staff the facility for safety. A safe staffing level is considered at least two staff personnel, with at least one person certified in First Aid and CPR. If the pool is open there must be a certified lifeguard available. When decisions are made regarding inclement weather, the YMCA will base program/facility changes on the staff’s ability to travel to and from the YMCA. First considered is the delay of youth programs, secondly adults, and lastly closure of the facility.
When there is inclement weather or the prediction of inclement weather, it is the responsibility of the YMCA participant/member to check the following: the radio (KKJO and the sister stations), TV (KQTV) and KNPN. The information will also be posted on www.stjoymca.org and our facebook page.
In the event of school closing, and providing that staff can travel safely, the YMCA will provide childcare here at the YMCA for an additional fee.
