Financial Assistance
Sooner or later we all can use a little help! Times can be tough for everyone. Unexpected unemployment . . . medical bills may overwhelm your budget . . .or a dozen other situations may occur that make it impossible to make ends meet. That's when you really need the YMCA.
The YMCA is here for everyone . . . in good times and bad. People use the Y because they know that they receive quality programs at a reasonable cost. And when they can afford the fees, they expect to pay them, because they like to feel responsible for themselves.
When financial problems come along, people continue to need YMCA programs and services for themselves and their families.
Why does the YMCA have a Fair Share Program?
YMCA programs and activities are designed to benefit all individuals. Fees are based on the cost of providing each program. While participants are encouraged to pay what they can afford, the YMCA will assist anyone who wants to participate but can't afford the fee. Proof of financial need may be requested. If any of our requirements prove to be an obstacle, speak with the YMCA Membership Coordinator about your specific situation. We're here to help.
How do I obtain financial assistance?
It's easy. Here's how:
- Complete the Fair Share Application form and include copies of all proof of income (SSI, child support, food stamps, etc.).
- If you are applying for a family membership include proof of dependency (child support statements, tax forms, etc.).
- If you have additional unusual expenses, include copies of receipts or bills.
- Return the form an all information to the Member Services Desk. That's it! Your approval letter is mailed within 30 days to tell you how much assistance you will receive. You then have 30 days from the date on your approval letter to accept your membership or you will need to reapply. When you pay for the membership, please bring in your approval. You have two options for payment, either pay the full amount or sign up for our easy pay monthly bank draft.

How much assistance will be provided? The amount of financial assistance depends on the program and extent of need. Since our funds are limited, we want to use these funds to help as many people as possible.
How long will the assistance continue?
Assistance is usually provided for a specific time period (i.e., depending on the program). You may reapply when the term expires.
Who will see my information?
Your information is kept confidential. The Administrative Staff are the only people who will see your information. Individuals receiving aid are no different than other members.
Who furnishes Fair Share fund?
Funding for this program is provided by the United Way and generous YMCA Members and friends who contribute to the annual Mission Partners Campaign.
Can I do anything in return?
Although volunteering is not a requirement to receive Fair Share, children and adults are welcome to volunteer their time. We can always use help in the following areas: assembling large mailings, yard work, building maintenance, coaching a sports team, assisting with swim lessons, programs for children and adults, or any area that you may provide a special skill.
Our donors appreciate knowing how their contributions are used. A short note describing how the assistance helped you is always welcome.
